Summary
In this project, we explored the impact of food deserts and food swamps across Georgia, focusing on how they disproportionately affect marginalized communities and lower-income families. After conducting research on access to healthy food and transportation barriers, we applied geometric concepts, specifically dilations, to visually represent how expanding the number of grocery stores and fresh food markets could improve access for these communities. This cross-disciplinary project combined mathematics with social justice and urban planning to propose real-world solutions through data and geometry.
