Brief Introduction

Research
We looked up different phone stands on order to find the one that best fit our interests and our capability to create. The one that we chose was a swing that holds up the phone.

Tools & Safety
The bandsaw is a very powerful tool that has a metal band that constantly moves in an oval shape. To be safe, you should always wear goggles so the wood or any other peices do not fly into your eye. You should also never put your fingers in the way of the machine or too close.
The nail gun is also very powerful and uses pressured air to shoot out nails very stong into wood. It only works when the nozzle is pressed down againist the wood. To be safe, do not nail down wood to the table and never put your fingers underneath the wood you are nailing down. You should also never point it and people including yourself or have your feet underneath the wood you are nailing. Always protect your eyes as well.
My Final Stand
While working with my original team, Landon, Timothy, Penny, Panselle, and Michael, I felt that I was not really doing much because we had two people who had to use the nail gun but they only needed one. Whenever I asked if I could help they said they didn't need me right now so I decided to do something productive and create my own stand.
This stand was the design that I wanted but my group chose to make a swing. My stand does not need any nails or glue and works like a puzzle. I went for efficiency over looks and I'm glad of how my design came out.

Planer Saw

Miter Saw
The Miter Saw creates clean cuts on different angles. We used the miter saw to cut our piece of wood into 12 pieces. 8 of the pieces were cut to 8 inches long and are 3 inches wide. The other 4 pieces were cut to 7 inches long and 3 inches wide. The safety shield on the front of the blade stops it from potentially cutting you.
Biscuit Cutter
Used to create holes for wooden "biscuits" to go into and connect wood. We used it to cut holes in the sides of wood to put biscuits in and connect them. It is very hard to hurt yourself with the biscuit cutter but you still need to wear safety glasses.
Orbital Sander
Orbital sanders are hand-held tools that work by rotating themselves elliptically to create a smooth surface. You can even use them to remove rust or paint.
Use on flat ground
You must wear the right protective shoes

Do not leave it on the ground when turned on

Wood Putty
Wood Putty is used to fill in imperfections in wood, like nail holes or gaps.
Wood Putty is made of wood dust and is turned into a clay-like filler.
Make sure the wood putty isn't too solid or too liquid before you use it.
Use a flat surface
Let dry before sanding.
Do not sand or paint before the putty dries.
Do not make a mess or use the table as a putty holder.
Do not use on wood that is already finished.
I used Wood Putty on my box by filling in the holes and cracks with the tools and my fingers.
Wood Stain
I then stained the wood with dark brown wood stain two times so it would have a nice cozy feel.
Hinges
Then, I drew where I would drill the nails into my box and lid.
Once I drew them, I made holes for them to go into, then drilled the hinges and nails on 1 side of my box so the lid would be able to open and close.

I have chosen to create a wooden calendar on a plate for my mom. For this, I will laser cut apples with numbers on then for the dates, pencils with the weekdays on them, and coffee mugs with the month on them. Then I will paint all the pieces and screw nails on the plate that will hold up all of them.
