In Physics we have recently been learning about circuits! On September 6, 2022 we used different materials to form both a parallel and a series circuit and demonstrate how switches work.
In Physics we have been learning about forces and Newton's laws! We used a shop vacuum, wood, and a couple of other materials. We started by making a circle out of the wood and sanding it. Then we cut the plastic that would hold the air, while doing this project we had to incorporate the element of art that is shapes by drawing perfect circles. Then we taped everything together and attached the shop vacuum and we were able to hover above the ground. We also used the elements of design by drawing lines to guide everyone in the group. WE also used symmetry and points in our project for the parts where we had to cut holes in the plastic to make the board hover. On top of that, we used balance the board by putting the people in the middle of the board. I really enjoyed being able to work with a group on this project because we were able to work on communication and collaboration.
For the Drew Charter lantern parade, we made a lantern about a famous scientist. We chose Rosalind Franklin who helped discover the double helix of DNA. We used Inkscape to make an SVG. We then made the sides of the lantern and sent them to Ms. Garner to print. We painted the sides of the lantern and put the lights inside. This project was very fun and gave us time to research a very important female scientist. We chose the colors purple and blue because we knew they would complement each other and look good at night with the lights.
On April 18 we all got assigned a ray on the electro magnetic spectrum. I was assigned Microwaves and made a presintation about it.
