The guernica project was a group project where we worked together to make a massive piece of art that represented struggles in the 21s century. With the help of the other classes we were able to do lots of research about global conflicts and teach others about them. We were also able to teach the other people in our grade about different perspectives.
To make this project we had to start by picking a problem we wanted to make out art piece about and then do lots of research to figure out how to accurately talk about and depict the conflict. Then we found some reference pictures to be able to take inspiration from in our art. After we sketched out our inspiration we copied it onto the board and started to paint. We learned a lot about school shootings which was not fun because it made us aware of a very scary reality. We also learned about different scientific things like about how to make paint using acrylic and pigment. In Dr kurt’s class we learned about abstraction and cubism. The most difficult aspect of this project was the trying to do the aspects of the art but I really liked being able to understand it. If we did this project again I would probably want to explore the ideas of adding other mediums into the piece
For ELA we had to chose a problem in the world that stood out to us and that we felt passionate about and we used this subject to create propaganda posters and write an argumentative essay about.
