About Me:

I'm a senior at Charles R. Drew Charter School in Atlanta, Georgia, with a passion for intercultural connection, public policy, and building communities. My high school experience has been anything but conventional, spanning two countries, two languages, and more teams and stages than I can count, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

In 11th grade, I was selected as one of 250 American students to represent the U.S. in Germany through the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange, a U.S. State Department scholarship program. I spent eleven months living with a host family in Mannheim, attending Karl-Friedrich-Gymnasium, and immersing myself in a new culture, language, and way of life. I went from waking up bewildered by the sound of German in the house to following conversations, navigating public transit, joining a soccer team, and finding a community that genuinely felt like home. I returned fluent in German and with a deepened commitment to intercultural understanding — and an even stronger sense of who I am and where I want to go in the world.

Back in Atlanta, I'm a varsity soccer co-captain at Drew, where our team has advanced to the playoffs every year I've played. I'm also a harp player with the Urban Youth Harp Ensemble, where I received a Superior rating at the GMEA Georgia Solo and Ensemble Competition. And for the past several years, roller derby has been one of my most defining communities — I was selected for the Atlanta Junior Roller Derby all-star travel team and voted co-captain, and while in Germany I joined the Rhein-Neckar Delta Quads, where I was elected captain of the rookie team. Each of these communities has taught me something different about leadership, persistence, and showing up for the people around you.

Academically, I've maintained a 96 GPA and taken dual enrollment courses at Georgia State University in history, economics, English composition, and German. I've been recognized through the Beta Club and have taken AP courses in Statistics, Pre-Calculus, and Language. I've also been involved in theater at Drew, helping with technical production and acting in our spring musical.
