-arpeggios

1st Listen:

-The chords make the piece feel really full and somewhat dark

-The arpeggios add a different depth and remind me of crystals or like the shimmering of a diamond. It adds a sprinkle of flavor and mystery atop the already unresolved feeling of this piece.

Challenges?:

-Staying together during the second and third page of the piece, difficult to count and remain in time/hear your parts

-doing the arpeggios towards the end in time and in tempo.

C. P. E Bach Sonata by Melanie Laurent

I like the intro to video with the bird sounds and her walk on. It added drama and gave a setting to the piece. I enjoyed the repetition of phrases on higher and lower octaves and with different dynamics. The trills placed throughout the entire song add a lot of depth and I really like the way she played them. Her use of dynamics in the build up around the 3rd minute added to the piece very nicely. The harp in this video sounds very crisp and light, I wonder what brand of harp it is. The piece used space and rests beautifully and it added lots of dimension and suspense to the piece.

Learning Journal- Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven

1st Listen:

-I really like the tempo of the into to the piece; not enjoying how slow the entire piece is

-I enjoyed the phrasing used in the beginning of the piece; I feel like it adds depth and character to the selection

2nd Listen:

-I like this selection because the tempo is a little faster

-I noticed there are a lot of petal changes which will be a challenge and dynamics
