Pre-listen thoughts - I already know this piece, and it's super dense and heavy. I do like the piece, but it'll be hard to make sure it sounds good for the whole ensemble. I think it'll be able to go well for us, though. I do know that we're listening to the first movement, and the third one is the most popular, along with the first. I think the third movement would be a little hard for us, though.
Post Listen thoughts - I think the first part, and not gonna lie, the whole bass seems pretty doable. I remember this piece, and I think it can be done simply, depending on which part I end up getting, but we'll see. There is that one up and down arpeggio-like part in the middle, which I kinda suspect everyone will have a part in. If it sounds this good with just one person, I think the ensemble will make it sound super good and thick.
Post Second listen thoughts - OK so it looks kinda doable. The double/triple harmonics are lowkey scaring me I'm not sure how I'm going to do that. It just seems a little impossible. But once I learn it I learn it. I can do the arpeggios. The switching between treble and bass clef is a little jarring but honestly it's not horrible. We'll see how it goes.
A chordophone is a stringed instrument - that includes harps, guitars, and more.
The harp originated from the hunter's bow - namely a string with high tension.
Types of older harps included the lyre, kithara, zither, and other angled harps.
There are also multiple Asian table harps - the Japanese Koto, Korean Kayagum, and the Chinese guzheng.
From the Medieval to the Renaissance era, the column was added. There were also variations with more than one row of strings.
For example, a triple-strung harp has an internal row and two parallel outer rows. This eliminates the need for pedals or levers, but it also makes tuning way harder.
Then early lever harps appeared, and you could play multiple pitches on one string.
Single Action Pedal Harps were the first iterations of pedal harps, and had 8 pedals. They were different than normal harps, though, as the column and base were very skinny.
Sebastian Erard invented the Double Action Pedal Harp, in 1810. It allows to change a string from sharp to natural to flat without playing a different string.
Modern harps are being produced now, with Lyon and Healy in America, Salvi in Italy, Camac in France, Aoyama in Japan, and Horngacher in Germany,

Our group decided to have Daisy killed in our take on The Great Gatsby. The scene will take place in a hospital. George Wilson, who is overcome by grief will blame Daisy for Myrtle’s death, despite Tom and Gatsby’s efforts to pin the blame on Gatsby.
For this project, we picked 2 Microsoft MakeCode Arcade tutorials to follow and complete to learn more about coding and the professions of more people - coders - in Esports fields. These are the links to my completed games. One is about dodging cones with a basketball, and the other is about grabbing 4 leaf clovers as a bunny.
Before we listen: I think Sleigh Ride will be a very light and airy song, and I think it'll be one that I recognize. I think that it'll be repetitive, with a simple bassline under it. However, I think there will also be a lot of scales, and high notes in the song as well.
Initial thoughts: There's more brass in there than I thought, but honestly it shouldn't be a problem while playing. I'm interested on whether the horse clops will be introduced in the song. It'll also be very quick to play, in terms of tempo.
The purpose of the project is to learn how to use writing in a real world setting by writing a script for a radio ad. Additionally, you had to analyze how to use a song to reach an audience and fulfill a purpose. For AP students, this was a chance to practice using the rhetorical situation as a writer/creator. We will also include a social issue in our ad, and connect it to a restaurant.

Pre-thoughts: I think that 'Wade in the Water' will be a very jazzy piece, with a lot of pure rhythms. I also think that it'll be a bit slow, and easy to follow, as it's a memorable rhythm and song that many people know.
Initial thoughts: I like some of the song, I think that the nice area in the beginning with the intro and the jazz coming in was nice, although I think the song isn't a great rendition of the original. It's a little bit too choppy and in time, while the original is freer.
Second listen: I think that the song will be mostly easy, but some of the vamp parts could be challenging. Overall, the song will be a nice add to the concerts.
Esports events are events that are more competitive than leisurely play, and usually are for prizes. There are many esports teams from all around the world that converge to compete in these esports events, or arenas. The organizers of these events are usually trying to make a profit, but the winners will also make a profit by winning the prize money. These esports events are a good way to show support for gaming and popularize it around the world.
The picture above is of a hard drive, and a hard drive is a component in your PC that allows you to store all of your digital content, including pictures, videos, music, programs, documents, games, other applications, and OS. It's helpful for Esports because it can allow you to have many games on your PC, allowing you to make a variety of content, and practice a variety of games if you wanted to compete in a tournament.
I think that it will sound slow and methodical but in a nice way. I think it'll be in a minor key as well.
Initial thoughts: I like how jaunty it sounds, and how light and airy it is. It's quick too, and the sections of the song are very succinct. I don't like how after the 'chorus' of the song, they let the song die down a bit. I think that the song will be hard to put together with the other parts, and I think the dotted rhythms will be hard as well.
I think that this piece will be very fast, and have quick hand movements
I think it will also be very similar to Baroque Flamenco, as in that it will also sound sad.
Although it seems long, I think it will go by very quickly.
Post Listen
I like the baseline the most, and the glisses near the end sound nice as well.
I also quite like the ending.
Exploring abstraction in art shows different ideas and ways that artists show their creativity. Some artists broke free from traditional rules to convey emotions and ideas through shapes, colors, and sounds. Other cultures, like African or Native American, use abstraction for storytelling and spiritual representation. Sometimes, abstract art intersects with science and math, and they're inspired by natural patterns and data. While some prefer, I find personal expression very interesting.
Borax is a white powdery substance that is soluble. It contains boron, sodium, and hydrogen. hot water makes the borax more soluble so that it can be supersaturated. As the water cools, crystals form. My 3d sculpture is dynamic because it creates a different type of crystal in a coil pattern.
This song is very joyous and light and airy. I like the consistent tempo in the background, and the variation of the pitches in the song. I think that it's very nice and the ending is great. the moderate length of the piece is interesting. Overall, I think the piece will be very fun to play. My personal goal for the piece is just to play the entire thing.

List and explain six (6) significant terms that you should remember going into Period 1.
The neolithic revolution led to injustices with religions, social classes, and genders, for many reasons. Firstly, the bringing about of farming led to civilizations, based on river farming and domestication. These civilizations had leaders, which already were a pseudo social class in of themselves. However, with the bringing about of different races, and civilizations that interacted with each other, there were some disagreements on who was better racially and ethnically, and even religiously. There were many times when this happened, but one of the major ones was the introduction of the caste system in india. The caste system came about through hinduism, and had a clear separation of social classes. The untouchables, the lowest level, were deemed too filthy to even touch, and of course the untouchables didn’t like this. However, a new religion came around, called Buddhism, which taught that anyone could be reincarnated, even without ascending the ranks of the caste system. This created tension between the Hindus and the Buddhists, and as the Hindus were already socially superior, there were injustices performed to the Buddhists. Another example of this is in the ancient roman empire, where Christianity was looked down upon. These Christians were tortured for spectacle, and just because the roman government didn’t like them, until Constantine switched his and the empire’s religion to Christianity. As for genders, pre neolithic revolution, the groups were mainly egalitarian, however, there were many instances of patriarchy rising throughout the neolithic period, which brought about injustices to women, especially in the rules of religions such as Confucianism.
Some early neolithic technological advances were things to help farm more easily, such as the hoe, or irrigation systems. Irrigation systems could come in many forms, such as physically bringing water, or planting next to rivers that you know will overflow. There were many more tools invented, such as daggers, or spears. The main focus of the advancements in the early neolithic era were mostly farming focused, however. Techniques used in the early neolithic era included grinding, sharpening, or polishing weapons on rocks, which has been developed greatly in the modern landscape.
There were many interregional trade routes that led to the spread of religions. The silk road was one of the most important of these many interregional trade routes, and spanned a lot of land, stretching from china to the middle east, where the most developed societies were. Many merchants and vendors took trips on the silk road in order to sell their wares. These various merchants and vendors had religious identities, which they shared greatly, in order to expand their various religions. Another interregional trade route, even though it wasn’t manmade, is the Mediterranean Sea. Many empires controlled this area, such as the romans, greeks, and persians, which led to the spread of culture from coastal countries, and with culture came their religions as well.
Centralized governments are governments in which the power is mainly focused near the top, or at the executive branches. People that live in countries containing a centralized government usually don’t have much power to control the governments. Centralized governments aren’t always dictatorships, however. Countries such as modern-day great britain are centralized, with power belonging mostly to the government. Decentralized governments are those where the power has been passed down to the people, and you can see this a lot in early neolithic societies, where kings hadn’t been installed yet, and people ran things together. A modern-day example of a decentralized government would be india, as there isn’t a massive government presence/control of the people there.

At weddings, I don't know much about what happens. I know there are some different jobs that they have, such as a ring bearer, a flower girl, or a photographer. There are different caterers that the wedding party purchases, and different vendors. People really like to have harps played at weddings, and they're considered a beautiful instrument. People aren't supposed to wear red, or white extravagant dresses to take away from the bride. They usually have a multitiered cake. Before the wedding, there is a prelude (20-30 min) and a processional. In the processional, the first people to walk in are the officiant and the groomsmen. After that, there's a seating of the mothers and the grandmothers. Then, the bridal party recession begins. The ring bearer and the flower girl walk in. Then the bridesmaids walk in, and the maid of honor walks in last. Then, the bride walks in last. Immediately after the Processional, the Ceremony begins. First, there is a welcome and some sort of message. If it's a catholic wedding, there will be a mass then. After that, there is a reading and a message. Then another reading and message. The readings are in different sections along with the messages. After that, there are the wedding vows, "I yadda yadda yadda, take yap yap as my lawfully wedded husband". Then, there is the unification ceremony. There are many things that could happen, like candle lighting, sand pouring, tree planting, etc. The unification ceremony is the main part of the Ceremony where music is played. Then, there is the declaration, "I now pronounce you yip and yap" and "You may now kiss the bride/groom". After the declaration, there is the Recessional, which can be very long or very short, the longest is the catholic recession. Then, the ending happens, and the bride and the groom leave first. Then, the bridal party leaves, and the groomsmen usually walk out with the bridesmaids. Then, the families walk out, and the mothers and the grandmothers go first. After that, it's everybody else. After the wedding ends, and pictures are taken, there is cocktail hour. You can charge an extra per additional hour fee.
The first song I recognized was Lift every voice and Sing, and I believe she played it really well. There was clearly improv on the arpeggios and glisses, and I think she played it masterfully. In the second piece, brand new life, I like how she mainly repeated the same styles of playing, with small chords and quick fingering. However, throughout the singer's change in tone, she reacted to it and was able to match it perfectly. She also managed to make the volume that she was playing at being heard but also not overpower the singer, the main focus. The second piece seemed more jazzy with all of the instruments included, like the drums and the bass guitar. She had a small selection of chords to choose from, but managed to make all of the variations that she played them at sound different, and unique, and also matching what the singer was singing. In the third piece, moving target, it seemed with the intro that the harp was the main focus of the song. Although, when the other instruments and vocals came in, she wasn't overpowered, but more amplified by the other instruments. Overall, I think the entire small concert was really good, and I think the musicians and their instruments complemented each other well. With the final piece, unrest, I believe that the intro did invoke such a feeling, but throughout the higher part, It sounded more beautiful than unruly. The piece did seem a little unbalanced, without a main theme, but that didn't prevent it from sounding really good.
To me, art is a medium that people can use to display different feelings, emotions, or stories. Art is something that requires effort, passion, and most importantly, a message. There are many subjects that can be artistic, such as chemistry, or geometry. Chemistry is a class in which you create different things with chemicals and elements. These creations that you make may be art to you, but not to someone else. Geometry can be art as well, because you can create artistic shapes, with different properties, sizes, and colors.
This is my experimenting with shapes project in art. 8/3/23
