For this project, we chose an artist and created an artwork to represent or reflect that artist's style in a different way. I chose Jean-Michel Basquiat, who has a very complex and varying style. Overall, this project helped me learn how to represent other styles of art while finding meaning in my artwork.
For this project, we watched concept videos of floating cities, and replicated the ideas, using trash bags. The idea was that the amount of air using spheres would allow the sphere to float without having as much mass as needed, allowing everything inside to float, and we recreated this concept with trash bags. We also used Charles' Law to propel this, which is a law that dictates that gas will expand with temperature, allowing the bag to float.
For this project, we researched different types of abstraction through styles of drawings. We then used our senses to try to represent these senses of abstraction, while also using new techniques of drawing to create artwork.
In this project, we used different elements of art such as value and pattern to create a 'chemvas' word to represent the things we do in each class.
This is a simple interview that details the process of making the piece, along with challenges that were had.
