My group members Tyra Robinson, Nhenze DeJesus, Myron Leonard, Chase Griffin, and I created a poster that showed a detailed timeline of what occurred on the way to the American Revolution and Independence. We used resources to help find the information of what occurred before and how the events connected to each other. We also used pictures to represent some of the events in the timeline.
With the help of Canva, I had to make a poster that showcased the technological innovations from the time period of the Market Revolution (1800 - 1850). My poster described the innovation of the steam shovel and its historical context. In this we also had to talk about the unintended consequences of the new invention and it's importance and evolution of the steam shovel.
This is my one pager on Period 4 (1800-1848). In the one pager, we had to include information about culture and society, environment and geography, work, exchange, and technology, migration and settlement, politics and power, national identity, and America in the world.
As the United States emerged as the world’s first modern mass democracy, its democratic ideals were reshaped and left a lasting impact on the nation's institutions. Alongside the formation of this new political system, significant developments in technology, agriculture, and commerce transformed regional identities, influenced the distribution of consumer goods, and shaped the broader market economy. Above all, the diverse political and social changes that unfolded during Period 4 played a crucial role in defining what it meant to be American during this era.
For this project we had to create a photo-collage on an empowerment fist that showcases actions and activists that fought for the empowerment of their group.
The Black Power Movement was a movement that occurred as a response to the limitations of the Civil Rights Movement. Many activists like Malcolm X, Stokely Carmichael, and Angela Davis were advocates for civil rights and community empowerment. Malcom X saw the freedom movement as a struggle for human rights, Stokely Carmichael was the person who popularized the term "black power" and advocated Black nationalism, and Angela Davis advocated for broader social justice issues beyond racial equality, including prison reform, women's rights, and LGBTQ+ rights. Different from the Civil Rights Movement, Black Power Movement advocated for more violence for self defense instead of peaceful protest. During this time there was a rise in the artistic expression of black culture and continues to be expressed now.
