English Assignment #1   During the first semester of 9th Grade Literature and Composition, we studied poetry and identity. I read For Everyone by Jason Reynolds and The Poet X By Elizabeth Acevedo.

Math Assignment #1 Stain glass Project

For our final we made stain glass. We did this using congruent triangles, rectangles, squares, parallelograms, and a special shape(semi circle).. We did this through shapes, colors, styles and placement. The 3 principles of design we used was proportion, as everything was very sharp and fit together, it seemed as it was one image,  balance and it was a symmetrical piece, and pattern as we had repeating rhombuses all around the image and the squares were very repetitive. The 3 elements of art we used in our stain glass were Shape, line, and Color  we drew different shapes like: a triangle, rhombuses, rectangles and etc. we used line to draw our shapes like the squares and made sure they were equal, and for the final one color when we were done outlining our shapes on the glass we used different colors like orange and yellow to enhance our picture.. Our inspiration was a sunset. It connects because it studies shapes, there proportions, proving the shapes were congruent. We had to take into account the properties of parallelograms, angles, side length, diagonals, for proofs.

Science Assignment #2   Hovercraft

  To represent Newton's three Laws of Motion, we made a hovercraft.

We started off with a big plank of wood. We cut the plank down to size and sanded it, in order to get the circular shape required. We’re cutting out a 5ft in diameter circle out of a plastic sheet. We are drilling a ¼ in hole in the middle of our wood plank and then wrapped duck tape around the perimeter of the plank. In order to cut circles 3 in the plastic we are going to make a stencil to make sure everything is evenly spaced out. To cut out the circles in the plastic sheet they used a ruler to cut out a smaller circle in the middle of the sheet. They used the circle stencil to cut out the small circles on the second largest circle. The next step is to trace a vacuum hole and cut it out. We used a 1in wide drill bit. We assembled the plastic sheet and wood plank together using screws. We screwed the plastic sheet in by turning it upside down and having the plastic sheet on the bottom.

 Science Assignment #3  Lantern

We created a lantern by constructing a cardboard structure and then creating a design and creating line art of a scientist that we studied using and online program. These were used in Drews annual lantern parade.
