Over the course of a month, our entire class split into groups and created a Silent Short Film based off Charlie Chaplin movies and his character "The Tramp". This project included a 4 week long process of pre-production, production, and post production. In pre-production, this included writing the script, creating shotlists, and creating story boards. During production, I was the director of my own film. I normally don't like telling people what to do so it was challenging to take complete control over a set. In post-production, I was my own editor and also my own critic. Doing this on a time crunch was hard, but it ended up successful in the end!
This project was my first project involving a digital camera. During class, we learned many different types of shots: from dutch-tilt shots, to over head shots. Combining all of these shots into a short 21 shot and 3 minute film. Enjoy!
During class, we learned about different people who contributed to the world of film. The Lumiere Brothers were famously known for their silent films about everyday life. The short film we created was about the Wild West. I wrote the story. Enjoy!
In film class, my partner and I did research on an impactful film maker in film. Our group chose D.W. Griffith. Although very controversial, he made many important films that have strongly influenced film technology and how films are being made today.
