Learning to read is very important. Many evidences suggest that benefits of being read to frequently as a child go way beyond just literacy skills. Reading out stories to the child help them to deal with real life situation that they need to deal with. Reading about a situation helps children to work out how to solve it in reality. Scientist have found out that children who have stories read out to them regularly find it easier to understand other people. They show empathy and develop social behaviour.
Reading out story helps them to really extend their understanding and develop their vocabulary. Simply asking them if they remember what happened in the story or checking if they know what the complicated words mean helps to develop their understanding.
Reading out a story develops their listening skills. It is an engaging activity for children. Moreover, it is a motivating reason for the English language learners to speak and write English.
Children of Grade 2 had read and grow activity on Saturday , where children read a library Book " Hike " They learnt the voice modulation while reading the book which gave the better understanding of the story.
