‘’Prepositions are one of the trickiest aspects of the English language “.
How did we make learning ‘Prepositions’ easier for our students…
The activity was done in their houses as the online classes are going on…We Created ten clues and instructed them to follow the clues ,Go to the places ,search for the things ,find the things and take a picture at each point on the scavenger hunt to know it later the position of the things .
· Walk towards the Bedroom and find out the position of Television, Remote control and mobile.
· Walk towards the kitchen and find out the spoons, lighter and the position of the Gas stove.
· Now enter the Bathroom and find out where is the soap, bucket and the mug kept.
· Lastly visit the balcony /Terrace. And find out the position of the flower pots, hanger and clips.
Children followed the instructions and noted down the position of the things and then discussed one by one...
Everyone had a different answer Like Gas stove was kept near the wall or next to the Microwave and lighter was under the Gas stove. Spoons were kept in the spoon stand.
Soap was kept in the soap case; Mug was inside the bucket and was floating on the water. Bucket was kept under the tap in the Bathroom.
In this way they came up with the Preposition words Like as: in, under, on, into, inside ,outside, above, below, behind, at, in front of, in between and many more.
Children of Grade 2 were actually able to understand the position words; also they were able to frame the sentences correctly on their own. Preposition words are used to describe the position of Nouns and Pronouns.
They were given a Critical Thinking Question to draw the position of the shapes and create a figure.
It was an engaging game and gave the feeling of competition that who had all the answers first.
One interesting observation about towel snapping is that it seems to be easier to get the towel to crack when it is wet.
During Week -2 Project Based Learning In English children have to do one experiment with two wet towels. They have to fully soak in water and keep for drying .One Towel open and one Towel folded . Children have to check the duration of drying of both the towels. How it is dried up and with whose help it again turned into original form.
With this experiment children will come to know about the importance of Sun in their lives. How the wet clothes dry after washing. How much time it takes the clothes/towel to dry if it is a cloudy whether. Why do we think about the heat of the Sun at that time. How important is Sun?
They come across with many many thought...
In this way Children are able to identify the warmth of the Sun and how it is benefited by everyone in this whole world.
