In this activity, we have made a solar clock and revisited timely to see how the revolution of the Earth affects what time the solar clock shows. Measure the minutes as the sun shifts overhead. In this activity we made our own sundial and used our body to track .By Checking the time, round up to the nearest hour. When the earth rotates about its axis, the sun appears to “move” across the sky, causing objects to cast shadows. A solar clock contains a thin rod that casts a shadow onto a platform etched with different times.
To make children understand “How the sun is affecting our daily routine?” and estimating time with help of shadow reflected on the solar clocks. All the students of Grade 2 enthusiastically participated in this solar clock model making and shared their videos and photographs while conducting their activity. Along with this we also discussed about the“ Data Card” shared for keeping the record of the observation of shadows as done in week-1 PBL activity. Children truly enjoyed and explored new solar facts.
