Mrs. O's House

Mrs. O's House is a website that I recently came across when thinking about project based learning and improving our passion project assignment at Morey Middle School. It offers a variety of "Internet Hunts" that require higher order thinking skills. While going on these hunts, the student improves their research skills. Many of these searches are geared to elementary students. However, some are for middle school children or teens. One unique aspect about this website is the rubric generator. It is a series of questions that supports the creation of independent study projects and other project based learning. For example, if a teacher wants to assign a project that has a multimedia product this website offers all the ways that a teacher can assess the quality of that product: appearance, media use, navigation, organization, preparation and resources. I think it would reduce some of the work for a teacher wanting to start project based learning in the classroom. This website seems geared to the gifted learner without ever mentioning gifted education as it encourages critical thinking about many issues. I look forward to using these resources to improve my knowledge about project based learning.
