Donna Y. Ford Website

This website is an excellent resource for researchers and educators interested in meeting the needs of Hispanic and African-American students. Donna Ford offers books, professional development and research articles to deepen our knowledge about best practices in multi-cultural education. I have read her work to improve my instruction and increase awareness of how to respect students from a non-mainstream background. At Morey, we may use her Ford-Harris/Bloom-Banks Matrix to make our instruction more engaging and personalized to fit the needs of all our students. This matrix helps educators move beyond superficially injecting culture into their classrooms. This continuum guides educators from discussing ethnic contributions to including more additive material into their lessons. Then, the teachers can guide students from the transformation level of understanding to social action. Donna Ford is one of the foremost advocates for multicultural education in the United States.
