APPROACH
Theoretical/project based
The project lab aims to further 3D modelling skills to an intermediate level, through polygon modelling techniques for humanoid characters and/or animals and dedicated props. Students will learn advanced functions of the software Maya through the use of chosen projects and practical training, as well as understanding the principles of character design.
The programme consists of one single module, which grants 8 credits.
Successful students will be able to:
Recognise the basic techniques and applications of 3D modelling
Perform a critical analysis of existing projects
Design and develop 3D characters and props according to a project brief
Mechanical and organic modelling
2D and 3D texturing
Basic rigging
Fundamentals of character design
This is a theoretical/project based course.
The students will take part in the following activities, which may vary depending on the development of different projects:
Classroom lectures
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools
Exercises and revisions
Workshops
Individual or group projects
