To close the digital learning gap, we must make sure that students have access to technology and high-speed internet outside of school.

Our students have been struggling with being responsible digital citizens outside of school and the repercussions were interfering with the learning environment. In an effort to further educate our kids about online safety, we partnered with the CAC to have a national presenter come into our building from Seattle to present the dangers of the online world. Richard Guerry presented at Henry Lord a few years ago. He put on an excellent, engaging presentation for kids that really is resounding and a positive experience. Richard also provided follow-up information for students, teachers, and parents.
We had 2 presentations to support our entire 5-8th grade population on November 6, 2023.
1-2 pm -- 7th and 8th grade
2-3 pm -- 5th and 6th grade
Three of our student tech team members facilitated VR experiences for our families. They designed the playlist and set up the headsets. They also learned how and when to use the Merge Cubes. During the event, they helped families access the experiences and managed the headsets, joysticks, and Merge Cubes.
