A strong transformation plan unifies the vision for technology integration and device maintenance with the school improvement plan or goals for the year.
All guiding questions are aligned to the element criteria located in the Portfolio Guide.
Guiding questions:
How did you derive your student-centered goals and action steps?
The VILS Coach, Principal, and Dean of Teaching and Learning met together and reflected on our VILS journey last year along with our general vision for this school year. We drafted our goals from this reflection.
We wanted to build off of our success with the multimedia projects. We didn't achieve our goal with closing the gap for our sub-group populations so we are continuing to work on this goal. Our school has a vision for cultivating a culture of excellence and achievement this year. We discussed how we would like our tech integration to support this goal specifically around the area of providing feedback to students. As a school we are building teacher capacity and distributive leadership. This along with our reflection of last year led us to want to strengthen our TLC.
How did the teachers, students, and families contribute to your plan?
We brought our proposed goals to our ILT for feedback before sharing them with the staff during PLTs. We did not ask for family or student input at this time.
What is your progress on the action steps?
We have made great progress on our action steps.
Have you had to modify or change your course of action (based on data)?
At this time we have not had to modify or change our course of action. We are a bit behind our timeline in regards to the feedback goal.
Guiding questions:
Does instruction reflect that teachers understand how different uses of technology support teaching and learning goals?
Based off TIM Observations teachers are integrating technology in a variety of ways. We seem to have a decent balance between pushing our technology integration and making sure that we are not simply using technology to use technology.
How does the campus leadership team model and collaborate with each other to support campus goals?
Our school leadership models technology integration while using Jamboards, Mentimeter, and the commenting feature in GSuite during meetings for collaboration and input. We love hyperlinks! School leadership proficiently uses Google Calendar for scheduling meetings as well as having a Calendly for teachers to request a meeting time in our email signature lines. They model mail chimp as a way to send out weekly newsletters. Our school leadership meets as needed when we need to discuss our progress towards goals.
How does the district leadership team innovate and collaborate to ensure long-term sustainable practices?
We meet every other week with Frank Farias (FRPS IT POC). The coaches, principals, and district poc meet once a month to discuss sustainable practices. The coaches meet every other week with our ADPL. We also met in person for a coach work day at HLCS in which we discussed many platforms, problem solved, and observed sphero minis in a math class.
Are technology use policies well documented, understood by both students and teachers, and reinforced?
This is an area of growth for us. Our expectations are part of our PBIS matrix and teachers discuss the expectations.
Have VILS IT management practices been incorporated districtwide? Explain.
This year a new position was created, identifying a lead VILS IT technician through whom VILS-related IT questions get funneled. District IT has also launched Incident IQ, which combines help desk ticketing and asset management.
