A cross-functional leadership team sets a clear vision for the school, its culture, and what teaching
and learning look like before putting technology in classrooms.
All guiding questions are aligned to the element criteria located in the Portfolio Guide. Use the questions to guide your reflection on the artifacts to narrate your journey on the goals.
Guiding question:
How does the campus leadership team model and collaborate with each other to support campus goals?
How does the district leadership team support innovation and collaboration?
What evidence do you have that supports policies for teacher and student device usage?
How have you implemented best practices gained from leadership calls, national calls, and IT calls? Can you point to ways in which you've modified your PL and IT practices as a result of reflection and learning from others?
Our school leadership models tech use while facilitating PLTs, staff meetings, and PDs. Agendas are hyperdocs. Leadership models using Jamboard, Nearpod, Padlet, and the Google Suite for collaboration during meetings. The leadership team also uses Canva for creating posters and pamphlets for teachers and the school community.
The district supported our decision as an academic leadership team to shift our plan on the PD day. Rather than having teachers complete a module (after listening to a one hour zoom call), we gave teachers time to dig into the tool and plan integration with support from our academic leadership team.
Students complete a device check form every morning. This supports our policy of bringing devices fully charged to school. It's also an opportunity for students to let us know if there are any problems with their device.
I attend the monthly extension grant calls. So far, I've gleaned ideas of how to improve our portfolio.
I've also been a leader in the VILS network by leading one session at Coach Camp (Coaching Vision) and two coffee syncs this year as a mentor coach. I will be leading 2 live sessions and one poster session at the upcoming VILS virtual conference.

Guiding question:
How do the TLC members impact school improvement or student learning? If not, how can you leverage their expertise?
Our TLC had its first meeting in January. We have five members: Lauren Colman (6th grade ELA), Rachel Angelo (6th grade Science & Social Studies), Adrienne Long (7th grade math), Nicole Gidley (7th grade ELA), and Paula Savini (SPED). The team is planning on supporting the school and district visions around meeting diverse students needs through scaffolding. We are reading selections from "UDL and Blended Learning" by Katie Novak and Catlin Tucker for strategies to implement in our own classrooms and share with colleagues.
On 3/15, our TLC will lead PD on best practices for the Promethean Boards. After a brief overview whole group, we will split into smaller, differentiated groups: Math/Science, ELA/Social Studies, and Unified Arts teachers. These small group sessions will focus on specific ways to use the Promethean Board to support academic content and engagement. You can see our initial planning notes in our rolling agenda on slides 8 & 9.
Overall I think we are optimizing the element of Leadership Team. While there is still room to grow, we have evidence that supports each criteria. We exemplify this element as our leadership team shares a common vision and models best practices for tech integration. Next year we can continue to strengthen and empower our TLC team to truly be tech leaders.
