Y5 LION KING STARS!

The last 4 months have been incredible for our Year 5 children and staff! They have worked tirelessly towards their performance of the Disney Musicals in Schools 'The Lion King'. Rehearsals are now finished and the children put on the most amazing show to their family, friends and the staff at Devonshire Hill and at the Lyceum Theatre! Thankyou to everyone who supported by rehearsing lines, preparing costumes, attending performances and learning the lyrics to many Lion King songs! 'Year 5, this is an example of true perseverance.' All children and adults involved, should feel very pleased with their achievements. It was an immensely proud moment to our children on the big stage at the famous Lyceum Theatre. What a journey you have all been on, these happy memories will last a lifetime!

ICE RINK

We would like to say a huge thank you to all families and staff who, despite the extreme winds, supported our skating event by coming to have lots of fun with family and friends in the February Half Term. It was amazing to see so many of you, of all ages, experience skating for the first time. It was also incredible to see those of you with hidden talents and a true passion for ice skating which was evident by some amazing moves on the rink!

VALENTINES DISCO

On the last day of Spring 1, Friday 11th February the whole school were able to show their love for all things singing and dancing at our Valentines Disco. During the day each year group had a mini disco with flashing lights, heart shaped bunting (thank you Nursery) and a heart shaped balloon sale at the end of the day. Thank you to everyone who supported this event and made it possible - we raised a total of £337.85

HEAD BOY & GIRL

The blazers have arrived and they look so smart! The message from our Head Boy & Girl is clear here... wear your uniform smart. By coming to school dressed the part you will look and feel ready to learn.

Don't forget on PE days we now come to school in our PE kit. This too should be smart in school colours and suitable for the weather. For more information including your PE day see the recent letter on the school website regarding the Whole School PE Kit Update.

SCHOOL COUNCIL

The school council has now approved our Eco School Action plan. This is looking very exciting and includes items such as gardening, nature, litter picking and campaigning to raise awareness. Anyone can support with this and we are calling for: posters - to prevent littering and energy waste, home made birdboxes and feeders, plant donations that we can nurture in our new greenhouse! The Nursery children have already started to make a herb garden!

WORLD BOOK DAY

We had an amazing day celebrating World Book Day 2022! Congratulations to those awarded best dressed, there were some really inspiring costumes this year. As always we discovered that our families really do like to read in the strangest places - see our social media pages to catch them in action. Thank you to everyone who made their donation, we raised a total of £103.20. Don't forget to let us know which book you purchased with your world book day tokens.

BOOK FAIR

An exciting collection of books will be available for purchase in our Book Fair next week after school from 15:00. Please note that purchases will be cash only. This is the perfect opportunity to stock up in support of our recently relaunched Reading Awards.

PENDARREN 2022

Thankyou to all Year 5 families who registered their interest in their child attending our annual trip to Pendarren House Outdoor Education Centre in Wales http://pendarren.org/ this September.

We will now be looking to host an information session (TBC) where our parents/carers will be given lots of exciting information about this amazing opportunity for your child to experience the outdoors and participate in fun, adventurous activities.
