Barb Nielsen

Barb Nielsen is a Manning graduate. She began teaching at the Denison Elementary School in 1970. Her teaching assignment for many years was working with the second grade students. She was a dedicated in teaching the children in all the curricular areas. Barb was sought by her colleagues for innovative ideas and strategies in teaching. She served on educational committees. It was good to have her supervise college student teachers, as these students received thorough training in working with students in the second grade. She loved working with second graders until she retired. Barb is a fine recipient for the Monarch Wall of Pride.

Roger Nielsen

Roger Nielsen is a graduate of Manning High School. When he completed college, he worked at Midwestern College in Denison. In 1971 Roger began teaching physical education classes at the Denison Community Schools and coached. During his time at Denison he coached various athletic programs at the Middle School and High school. He was also Middle School Athletic Director. Roger was involved in the various Youth Program and Little League, Flag Football, etc. When a person would meet Roger, he was working with kids. He had high expectations in working with you and insisted the students put forth their best effort in any thing they were to accomplish. Roger is fine recipient for 2009 for the Monarch Wall of Pride.
