Dave Wiebers

Dave Wiebers was a 4-sport standout and model student for the Monarchs in the late 70’s. He was a great role model for the up and coming “Monarchs” of that era. Once he graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, he returned to Denison and has been an integral part of the Denison Community School District and the Denison Community for the past 35 years.

He began as a substitute teacher and an assistant coach in several different sports. He was willing to wait his turn to become a full-time teacher and head coach in the district that he loved. He soon became a full-time member of the business education department and shaped students’s lives from that position for over 20 years. He served as head football coach for 22 seasons and led the team to 10 playoff appearances. Great accomplishments to be sure but Dave’s greatest accomplishment, was in the way that he shaped and molded young Monarch lives from his head coaching position.

He served as district Activities Director since from 2004 until 2016. With that role he had a chance to influence young coaches on the important role they have in our school district.

Dave was named high school principal starting in 2016 and relishes the opportunity to lead nearly 750 students and a teaching staff of 50 professionals. He is also heavily involved in the community’s youth activity programs--from serving on the various boards to coaching and officiating, he is always willing to give time to the youth of our community.

Dave has been, is, and always will be a proud Monarch
