On March 28, 2023 we hosted a rising freshman night for parents and students. Information was given about graduation requirements, GPA calculating, attendance policy, and bell schedule. After the meeting in the auditorium, parents and students could go to the gym where there were tables set up for clubs and extracurricular activities.
We have a close working relationship with the AVID site team coordinator from our feeder school Manteo Middle School.

Indicator 19: Academic Support Structures and Rigorous Instructional Practices
We have academic support structues in place for all staff members to provides opportunities for staff to dialogue instructional practices in order to develop deeper levels of understanding rigorous work. Our AVID Site team has departmental members who in turn share their practies with the teachers in their department and adjustments can be made so that all students can have deeper levels of understanding. Also faculty members volunteer to have other teachers visit their classrooms in Learning Walks for other teachers to observe best practices of AVID strategies.
