Our AVID Site Team and the School Improvement Team (SIT) are combined with the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) to form a joint committee. The AVID Site Team Coordinator is also the chairperson for the SIT. SIT/AVID/PTO joint committee have goals that are aligned with college and career readiness.
Equal access to rigor and diverse representatives is also a strength. All students have access to rigor in their course selections.
AVID is always included in the district budget and each AVID school receives additional funding for a college field trip for the AVID elective juniors. Funding for events like the AVID celebration for AVID seniors is also in the district budget.
The AVID elective freshmen and sophomores are tutoring at the elementary school two hours a month.
Our school leads the district in AVID student enrollment.
A goal for the 2023 - 2024 school year is to have several AVID parents on the SIT.
The district often, but not always funds AVID Summer Institute training. The number of people sent is limited and based primarily on funding available for that year.
We plan to continue AVID leadership training and plan for our AVID Site Team Coordinator to receive the school coordinator training.
