In all of our departments within the school, teachers
Use the WICOR strategies
Our faculty members do Learning Walks to observe how other teachers are using AVID WICOR strategies and also use post it notes to place on the classroom door to show appreciation to that teacher.
Professional Development and our BT program:
Our Beginning Teachers program has AVID strategies embedded in the program.
Our professional development includes AVID strategies and frequently staff members share AVID strategies at monthly faculty meetings.
We have room for growth in having all of our teachers identify WICOR in their lesson plans on a weekly basis. Our teachers already use WICOR in their classrooms but we would like to have it specifically written in the lesson plans.
We would like to continue to track AVID strategy use and share this data with the staff to determine future professional development.
Next year, we have plans already in place to have school-wide planners. Currently it is for AVID elective students and freshmen only.
