What Events are Happening in May?

By Sadie Allison

Boatnik will possibly be holding its 62nd annual festival, starting Thursday, May 27, 2021. It is located in the vicinity of Riverside Park. Boatnik was created as a way to bring people together to celebrate Memorial Day weekend with rides, food, a jet fly-over, fireworks, and much more. Although the COVID-19 restrictions would apply, the foundation may have found a way to continue the event. They would continue the Sprint and Drag boat racing. Whether or not they are going to have most events is still undetermined. They have released the theme of the weekend to be “Small or tall, we stand for them all” by Dr. Seuss. Admission to Boatnik is free!

Grants Pass High School’s band and guard are holding a bottle and can fundraiser to collect bottles and cans from anyone wanting to donate. It will be held on Sundays (May 2nd) anytime from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Bottles and cans can be brought to Grants Pass High School’s parking lot of the Performing Arts Center. If there is a large amount, a pickup can be arranged. Students may volunteer to help the fundraiser with this link: https://signup.com/group/10111254514098.
