Prerequisites: Grades 12 36 Weeks & Internship, 1.0 Science Credit
Prerequisites for the Program:○ Students must be within 12 months of graduation in order to take the National HealthcareAssociation (NHA) examination for their MA certificate.○ MA Internship hours must be met at a third party facility for students that are 18 y/o.• Students must have passed with at least a C in the following courses: Introduction to HealthScience (1st and 2nd semester), Medical Terminology (can be taken concurrently), and Anatomyand Physiology (can be taken concurrently). All applicants must be able to speak, read, andunderstand English• National Healthcare Association (NHA) Testing Requirements• Students may not miss more than 2 days of class per semester, regardless of reason; otherwise,students will not be eligible for MA course completion.• Students must make-up the lost school days during an alternative time with the instructor.• Students will have to spend a day during fall break and spring break for extended instruction to meet hours necessary for course completion.
MA Clinicals/Internship: • Students that are eligible for internship hours will be assigned to various healthcare facilities through D49 partnerships. Workman’s compensation and extra liability insurance from Falcon School District 49 will cover students in third party facilities. If the third party entity provides payment for the internship, then the workman’s compensation will be provided by the third party entity.
