Project Lead The Way Course. This course teaches problem-solving skills and teamwork using a design development process. Models of product solutions are created, analyzed, and communicated using solid modeling computer design software. 3D Printing, other advanced machine use, as well as basic shop tool use will be introduced. Projects will include various creative and collaborative tasks to benefit individuals and society. Students who achieve an 85% both Semesters and earn a 4 on the EOC can receive a +1.0 GPA Boost similar to an AP course. HEAR, IBCC (Fusion 360 Certification).

Exploring various technology systems and manufacturing processes help students learn how engineers and technicians use math, science and technology in an engineering problem solving process to benefit people. The course also includes concerns about social and political consequences of technological change. Prerequisite: Principles of Engineering (POE) or Teacher Approval Grades: 11-12 1 Year, 1 PA CreditFee: $15Project Lead The Way Course. In this course, students will work in teams to research, design, and construct a solution to an open-ended engineering problem. Students apply principles developed in the two preceding courses as well as learning and developing any skills required for the solution of their problem. There is a prototyping lab available for students’ use that will allow students to work in metals with equipment like welders, laser cutters, plastics using vacuum molding and 3D printing, as well as many other shop tools. They must present progress reports, submit a final written report and defend their solutions to a panel of outside reviewers at the end of the school year. Students who achieve an 85% both Semesters can receive a +1.0 GPA Boost similar to an AP course. HEAR, IBCC

Shop Assistant Course: Students support the Engineering Instructor during classroom instruction with near-peer support; prototype lab support handling maintenance of equipment and the facility and logistics tasks supporting the Engineering Pathway; providing near-peer support of underclassmen on equipment during shop practicums. Students may test for industry certification if they were not ready previously.
