D49 students must successfully complete 24.5 credits and demonstrate mastery in all content areas to earn a high school diploma. Demonstration of mastery for Reading, Writing, and Communicating and Mathematics are determined by the state of Colorado.
All freshmen and sophomore students are required to enroll in a full course schedule of eight classes each semester. Juniors and seniors on track to graduate may elect to enroll in as few as six classes each semester.
It is the student’s responsibility to meet requirements for graduation and to be acquainted with the necessary requirements to meet this goal. Academic Advisors meet each year with students to discuss registration and to advise students regarding their progress toward meeting graduation requirements.
A student’s individual Pathway Plan (also known as ICAP) must be updated each year and will drive the counseling and advising of courses and credits for the student’s high school plan. Students must review pathway plans of study to meet college requirements, military requirements, and/or career and workforce readiness. Students planning to continue in post-secondary education will need to research the entrance requirements for their chosen institution. Colleges and universities, both two-year and four-year institutions, have unique admissions requirements for grade point average and exam scores.
CREDITS NEEDED TOWARDS GRADUATION
Credits in each of the subject areas above are required for progress towards graduation. This is done by successfully earning at least a D in a course with the credit type delinated above.
