Tainan pineapple
Taiwan's pineapple production areas are mainly from the south of Taichung County to Pingtung County, and are rarely grown in other areas. The following are the top five famous areas for pineapples in Taiwan.
Tainan Guan Temple
Tainan's Guanmiao Township has shallow, low hillsides with good drainage and good water-containing soil, so it is possible to grow sweet, top-quality pineapples.
Nantou Famous Room
The red soil on Bagua Mountain has good drainage and good water content, which is very suitable for the growth of pineapples. The most famous production area is in the mountain basin near Dazhuang, Mingjian Township. The growing season is longer than that in the southern production areas, and the climate has more rain, making the countryside more popular. The pineapples produced in Nei Dazhuang Village are a little more sour, but they have a particularly strong pineapple aroma.
Pingtung Mountain Highway
Pingtung has the most continuous and extensive pineapple garden in the country, starting from Fangliao and going north along the mountain road, passing through Wanluan, Neipu and all the way to Gaoshu. There are 3,000 hectares of pineapples planted on the gentle rocky flats on both sides of the mountains. In Taiwan, the planting scale of fruit farmers rarely exceeds 10 hectares. The environment in Pingtung allows pineapples to mature faster than other regions and have a higher sweetness. However, the rocky land makes it difficult to maintain fertilizer and moisture.
Kaohsiung big tree
Kaohsiung Dashu Township is the most important pineapple planting area in Kaohsiung County. Due to the natural environment, Dashu Township has the tradition of northern litchi and southern pineapple. The soil is less rocky and sandy, and it is also relatively fertile. At that time, it was used to supply Fengshan canning. Therefore, it was mostly developed into pineapple orchards, and it still has an area of 800 hectares.
