Low Tech and Mid Tech AAC

Welcome! This 2-hour training is intended for CVUSD Staff, and will provide you with an overview of low tech and mid tech AAC devices. It is not a comprehensive guide to all low tech and mid tech devices, but will give you an of the devices that are currently in use around CVUSD. With this training you'll have key background information about AAC that can be useful no matter what kind of device your student is using.

Note: one of the reasons I spent some time talking about visual schedules vs. AAC is because I have seen IEPs (mostly coming from other districts) which say that a child was using "PECS"... but then it turns out all they were using was a visual schedule. This confusion sometimes results in a child not getting real AAC until way later than they should!
