This video provides an introduction to communication, AAC, and a specific type of low-tech AAC known as PODD. It is about 50 minutes long, and it's recommended for you to have your own PODD in front of you so that you can follow along with the examples presented. If you find pages in your PODD that need a List added, please do so! You can find a generic list form on the AT Shared Drive.
This optional additional video is about 10 minutes long, and goes over the layout of the simPODD School 15+ vocabulary. If your student/child is using an iPad with PODD, this video will help you get started!
Now that you know more about how to use PODD with your child, you may be wondering about how to get training for other people who work with your child at home. If you have other service providers working with your child, please always let the school team know so we can collaborate with them! In particular, if your child has an ABA therapist working with them at home, you can give them the link to this page, as well the link for the training that I made just for ABA therapists and behavior specialists.
Thank you so much for watching this video and learning more about your child's AAC device!

Shared Reading with AAC Users: Learn about a skill that you can use every day with your child to help them become a better communicator and reader. Use the "Customizers" video as a reference, rather than the videos which incorporate other devices.
