        The Best Film Series: Minions

The best series of American animated films are the Minions movies and I'm here to tell you why. One Reason the minions are such a cultural phenomenon is because they speak a mix of languages including English, French, Spanish, Korean, Italian and Danish. The Minion movies are different because they focus on the minions, especially Bob, Stewart and Kevin. While  the Despicable Me films focus on the adventures of Gru. The Minion movies have grown in popularity because of their high quality and the hard work of Illumination Entertainment. They are hilarious because even though you can only make out a few words the minions are saying in English, their actions in the movies say a lot.

In the beginning of the first Minion Movie called Minions, we learn how the minions evolved from yellow tadpole-like creatures into land animals with seaweed and coconut goggles to yellow human-like creatures. We also discover that they are immortal because they survived the extinction of the dinosaurs. The minions adapt to there surroundings because in the scene when Herb Overkill is trying to torture the minions Bob, Kevin and Stewart their bodies adapted to the torture devices, allowing them to not be hurt. The storyline it shows the great world building and movement around the city. 

The second movie Minions:The Rise of Gru continues from the first and they meet young Gru. The movie follows the three main minions and also shows Gru’s perspective. We see a side of him that is shown in the Despicable Me movies, namely his need to be famous. Gru signs up to join the Vicious 6 and is rejected but while leaving he decides to steal the Vicious 6’s most valuable treasure, the Zodiac stone. However, after stealing the stone the minions end up losing it which almost kills their new boss, Gru. A new minion named Otto plays a big part in this film because only he has the perseverance to get the stone back by riding a tricycle for many miles, although he lost the stone in the first place. The three main minions Bob, Stewart and Kevin are challenged with sneaking into the house of the previous leader of the Vicious 6 known as Wild Knuckles, and are face to face fighting the Vicious 6 transformed into the Zodiac animals who were trying to kill Gru. This film has a lot more drama than the first movie.

The improvement between the movies is amazing. In the first movie the animation was amazing but that is likely due to Illumination Entertainment working on the Despicable Me movie prior to the Minions movies. The first minions movie was entertaining and had characters with a lot of personality. I like that they keep the same three minions to center around in both films. In both films the minions, Bob, Stewart and Kevin go on adventures for person they find most despicable. 

Initially the minions work for Scarlet Overkill, one of the worst villains during this time. In the second film the minions are under the rule of an eleven year old Gru, who has big dreams of joining the Vicious 6.

In conclusion, the Minions movies that focus on the minions from Despicable Me are great. They are centered around the origins of the Minions and their lives before they met Gru, and how they ended up meeting  and working for him when he was a child. The Minion movies are a must see series of films if you haven’t seen them already.
