September 13-14th
Jacob: "Throughout his life the frozen hand of hatred had slowly wrapped its skeletal fingers around his heart, choking every ounce of compassion and love from his soul."
Andrew: “Hannah was proud to be rumored the best in the world and she really was…”
Myiesha: "Her death was unexpected, I woke up one day and her body was just gone. Even at the funeral I was told she was just too gruesome for me to see, I barely know how my mother died either. My father said she woke up in a cold sweat, ran outside and drowned herself in the river. That's all I know and that's all I want to know."
Nishka: "I will love you forever, and will watch over you proudly. I wish you the best."
September 27-28th
Jacob: "As they maneuvered through the alleyways Dalilah found a sharp taste of metal in her mouth. This was due to the radiation that blanketed most of the world, especially the cities, which were heavily populated with the toxic residue of an archaic war."
Sachi: “Thank you for joining Memories for the Future.”
Myiesha: “Iris keeps on speaking of all the fun things we could do together and I kinda wish she would stop talking because I've developed a headache. I know that sounds rude but I truly don't need to hear her say how much she'd love to take me to her favorite cafe for the 8th time.”
Andrew: "The king, King the Fearless, was an abominable, annoying person.”
Nishka: "Love is warmth, but love is also loss."
October 4-5th
Sachi: “By the time it reached the river it was gone, desperately sucked out the air like a water droplet.”
Jacob: "Over the years he’d gained fame and recognition and his name became one of legend, akin to that of the mythical hero Arafaeros, who’d supposedly killed the Blight of God and trapped its essence inside the moon."
Myiesha: “‘Oh ok, I'll see you next week right?’ shes now smiling and the shocked look has disappeared.”
‘I don't know, I’m busy, Iris. I don't have time to see you every week.’”
Nishka: "With every last drop of my heart, I will protect you from what is bound to crush the Earth."
Andrew: “It was rumored by the citizens that the king had ordered the peasants to construct a large red door inside the palace walls that was full of mythical monsters that could surround citizens instantly in a large green force field that would kill anyone on touch and which emitted freaky pictures of a demon with a bloody chainsaw and kept them there until the king ordered their release. The citizens were obviously terrified of such a weapon that could be used to control them like the king’s puppets on a string.”
October 11th
Jacob: "The waiting, the fear, the suspense, they ground on one’s nerves and tortured the mind."
Andrew: “It was sometimes loud but it was mostly just the screech of a rusted old crane ready to fall in the water at one light flick, and the bang of 50 hammers hitting the hull of a ship being constructed."
Samar: “THE JOHNSONS ARE NOT HOME AND A BILLIONS BIRDS FLEW OUT OF THEIR HOUSE SO DEAR GOD HELP ME AS MY WIFE SCREAMS FOR BLOODY MURDER LIKE A TODDLER.”
October 18th
Andrew: ‘“My long lost brother, it’s good to see you again.” That was the text Tom received from an unknown phone number that originated from Zurich, Switzerland.’’
Jacob: "Sweat broke out along my forehead. I couldn’t breathe….I had to get out of here….they’ll send me straight to the Deathwrites….can’t breathe….they’ll shoot me!...can’t breathe…"
Sachi: “He fiddled with the turquoise shirt nervously, and asked, ‘Is that really you?’”
November 8th
Jacob: "the wind whispered through the still air, awaking the foliage and sending some dancing to the ground"
Andrew: "Alright fine," he groaned although no one would hear it.
Samar: “The old man pauses as he glimpses from above his red hat, his eyes full of sorrow. ‘No one knows what happened to the family,’ he stares back at my mother as she stifles her chuckles about the story.”
Sachi: “Sunny yellow walls surrounded her as she woke, reminiscent of her childhood before the Break.”
November 15th
Jacob: “The Mother Tree, higher than the clouds, than the sky itself, its trunk wider than one hundred men standing shoulder-to-shoulder, so old that it remembered the creation of the universe and a hundred thousand stories, guardian of the Sha'ham, burning.”
Andrew: “A green bolt of air appeared suddenly and left with a loud crack as it hit him directly on the face.”
Sachi: “Hunger clung to Monukai relentlessly, struggling for dominance in the sibling’s mind.”
November 22nd
Andrew: “We are not invisible, we exist. Water and the howl of the fierce rain beat down on Sam like hammers.”
Jacob: "In the coming eons, these predators will take important roles in the new ecosystems of the early Aquaticene."
Sabine: “Looking down at me from the sky, I saw my reflection, and everything inside. Telling me that as the tides pulled and winds blew, in the end my ship and spirit would make it through.”
Sachi: “The morning sun filtered in through the window, casting its warmth along her cheek. Shamar wondered fleetingly if this would be the last time she felt its glow.”
November 29th
Jacob: “And why you got that sword o’ yers at yer belt?”
Now, Arahas locked eyes with the bartender. “These‘re dangerous times.”
Samar: “The waters down below are violently hit as a faint song starts playing, one with such an ugly sound.”
Andrew: “...which made ice appear on every conceivable surface, including your own breath. It made breathing through your nose unbearable as though you were eating a mint and the world’s hottest chili at once.”
Sachi: “Then it was gone, in the blink of an eye, as if it was never there.”
December 6th
Andrew: "The door banged open more violently than usual, although most of the gung-ho teens that entered the store liked pushing the door wide open with excessive force."
Jacob: "Luckily for the small prey species of Venica, the Swooper’s numbers are few. "
Samar: "I conclude she must be picking my brother up but his school doesn't get out till 4:00. It's 2:27."
December 13th
Andrew: "History textbooks in class would clearly tell you that life a millennia ago would have been considerably much better than now. If only there was school."
Jacob: "Again he spoke with his mouth barely moving, and none of them looked at each other so that they didn’t seem to be interacting at all."
Samar: "I didn't consider it normal. In fact his smile very much reminded me of pennywise, I confess to my sister who pretended to agree whilst chewing on a sad piece of broccoli that fell into the gravy."
January 10, 2023
Andrew: “He drank it… His body was literally ripped apart, Chase struggled to breathe as he slowly collapsed, with a crowd of people gawking at him, unsure of what to do, as green stuff was oozing out of his mouth.”
Jacob: "But a cold stone sat in his chest. The Storyteller’s words seemed all too real, and an unexplainable sense of foreboding lurked at the corners of Deyn’s mind."
Samar: "I know better not to talk to strangers, especially those who remind me of Snow White's stepmother."
Sachi: “The scent stained the corners of the room like ugly, desperate leeches.”
Molly: “In winter, the forest was silent. Understandably so. There wasn’t much sound to snow falling; onto the ground, off of the boughs of various firs, maples, and oaks. Not much to look at, either, other than the dull green of the pines.”
January 17, 2023
Andrew: “Yet he still somehow overcame it, a thundering wave of ash cresting the hills as he ran as fast as he could, filled with adrenaline, and screaming in terror.”
Samar: "They say life is short, but for me that was clearly an understatement."
Jacob: “Your grace,” one of the horsemen said, bowing in the saddle. “I welcome you back to Rever Pelensell.” Then he spoke in a low voice and his eyes flicked to Deyn. “Is this the boy?”
Sachi: “The smoke glowed like glitter in the sun, almost erasing the memory of the horrible events of the war.”
Molly: “They [the clouds] had been ominously gray for days. Swirling and broiling with anger, like the little features on one’s face before an outburst- the furrowed eyebrows, the curl of the muzzle, and in some cases, the disapproving click-click of the beak.
The clouds seemed to narrow their unseen eyes whenever they looked at the forest.”
January 24, 2023
Andrew: “It was an odd sensation to be flying through the air sideways, but it was a whole lot better than your brain telling you that you felt like you were hanging off a cliff into a certain doom.”
Samar: “I try to think of where to go, because I went from a lonely ghost kid trapped on earth to a homeless teenager who just looks like they murdered someone.”
Molly: “I swallowed a large lump in my throat. I couldn’t tell if it was caused by fear or the stench of dragon breath. Staring down at me was Ku, pupils dilated into slits, and Kun, who was giving us the special glare he saved for convicted traitors."
Jacob: "A great throne of marble, gold, and black stones sat against the back wall of the temple, its seat higher than the head of the tallest man."
January 31, 2023
Molly: "I didn’t think my silvery hair could get any lighter, but that day I learned how to bleach your hair with snow."
Andrew: “Tim *cough* I meant Mit, lived a very odd life. For some reason, it always seemed to be the opposite day for him everyday.”
Jacob: “Deyn recalled the ease and indifference with which the Seeing Elder slaughtered the goat not five minutes ago. Deyn wondered if that was how he would die too: a slash to the throat. Or perhaps a rapid stab through the heart.”
Samar: “I walk along the streets and I feel nostalgic seeing these houses and the parks. I am stuck in this city but I always avoid these areas.”
February 7, 2023
Sachi: “It was a pleasant place, removed from the distractions of modern life, but Kuni felt a prickle of unease tickling at his spine whenever he walked through the cheerful neighborhood.”
Andrew: "It might have been a very odd occasion in 2023, but in 3053, it wasn’t at all. The people of Macedonia found it a normal occurrence though, often walking through bodies of dead people lying on the street, wondering who was going to be next. They lived under constant fear, as was what the ruler wanted.
Jacob: "Deyn guessed that many of the poor inhabitants of Rever Pelensell would foam at the mouth upon the sight of his new house, and he felt grateful to have it, especially one so secluded from the rest of the village. But still, it felt like something of a prison cell to him, and not just because of its minuteness."
Samar: “'Did I ask to be stuck here waiting for something to happen, of course I know,' I say with a unhealthy amount of sarcasm."
Molly: "The scents of food swirled into my nose- traditional Thunderiian cuisine. Warm suaasat of all kinds- seal, whale, caribou, and various seabirds. Bannock fresh from the oven. Ringed seal and walrus ignuaq. Large cups of labrador tea by everyone’s side. Our chef, for my birthday, decided to try a couple dishes with a twist; Arctic char, sliced and pan-fried with parsley, oregano, lemon and butter. Roast caribou with basil and potatoes."
February 14, 2023
Jacob: "And let us hope it is, and that you are the Zuurak Enrgathen, for without him the world is doomed, and so are we."
Samar: "A visibly annoyed look on his face darts back at me, It's intentional of course but I feel he never considered my lack of learning social cues."
Andrew: "Those incompetent fools who called themselves humans had nothing on him. With his 500 foot height, extreme strength, the ability to breath fire, and a tail that could send one of those human scum out of the universe, Sraux was unstoppable."
Molly: An arrow narrowly missed my head. Letting a breath out sharply with my nose, I made a hairpin turn and tugged back the reins so the stallion reared, front hooves pawing wildly at the air.
“I’m not trespassing!” I shouted. “It’s broad daylight! What do you want to be accused of, murder? Unauthorized arrest?”
No response. I rolled my eyes. "(thought)Gremlin teeth, they’re annoying."
February 21, 2023
Samar: "Glossy eyes brimming with tears and a defensive stance with one foot placed in front of the other as if they're gonna fight me. I stutter, ‘I am sorry.’ It comes off faker than Miley Cyrus's Hannah Montana wig."
Molly: “It may be an unusual day that you knock over a tower. But that could seem duller than assembling rough wood carts until your hands feel like sandpaper pillows stuffed with cotton compared to unwittingly shapeshifting into a dragon.”
Andrew: “The sound of a screeching doorbell that had been years past its replacement date rang, causing the house cat to yowl and scamper onto Gerald’s bed.”
Jacob: "Deyn groaned inwardly. Puleshii’s flamboyant attitude annoyed his exhausted self. But he tried to force a smile."
February 28,2023
Andrew: “It had weird delicate features. With orange fur that was striped with black and white, it was like a tabby and also like a tiger that got shrunk and domesticated.
Molly: "The smooth coating of the hailstone glistened in the struggling sun, whose rays of light groped through the clouds in an ever-failing attempt to bring warmth to Tarakhodi."
Sachi: “The cat hobbled along the fence line, precious paws balancing delicately on the thin surface. The sun shone through the trees, landing playfully on the dewy blades of grass, and reflecting bits of broken glass scattered around the fence-line.”
March 7, 2023
Yejin: “A week had passed, and the pup began to make the faintest outlines of her den. Everything towered over her, and she started to hear things. Her parents, who turned out to be other wolves, and apparently they were the “living-fur”, caressed her gently, guiding her around the house. Another week and she was easily crashing around the house, yipping just a couple words like, ‘Food!’ and ‘Fun!’ and, strangely enough, ‘Flibbertigibbet!’”
Molly: "I decided a coffee shop would be a nice place to work out what just happened and how we were supposed to get the crystal. I don’t know why I chose a coffee shop- I hated coffee if it didn’t have a gallon of cream and sugar in it. Maybe it was the ambience. There was a really nice coffee shop near the inn, with these curtains that were so pretty I’d pay a sack of silver coins for them."
Samar: “Riley runs to his coffee table fast and attentively making sure not to trip on any decor inconveniently misplaced. I see him grab something green and old-looking cut into rectangles of some sort. I stare at the stack of green stacks distraught on why I don't remember it.”
March 14, 2023
Samar: "I catch up to Riley's fast pace, but they pay attention, which agitates me. The kind of care they have scares me because I don't trust it, but I know I can't stop myself from wanting that kindness."
Molly:
"Fire-scales
Serpent’s tongue
Lion’s mane and
Raptor’s song"
Yejin: "Fern sneezed in my face. It wasn’t the first time, actually. I groaned and lashed my tail at her. I accidentally hit Clover and she pawed my nose. I batted at Clover and she winced. 'Not so hard, Pine!'
I frowned. I batted her light enough to keep a feather still. Ok, maybe harder… enough to keep a mountain still? I snickered and licked her nose. 'Better?'
'Better.'
Fern grinned and stretched. I smirked and yawned in her face. Clover rolled her eyes with prodigious skill. That was the cue for us to launch into a play fight. Normal thing, really. I batted at Fern’s snout, Fern shoved Clover, and Clover did a pirouette to escape a grab and chewed on my ear.
March 21, 2023
Andrew: “If only I could talk, Greb, a random tree thought to himself. The fox that was bounding across the mud sodden ground, with blades of wet grass brushing against his fur stopped, which made him trip over his own feet and land on his face. The fox clawed the mud out of his face and looked up at the tree in complete bewilderment.”
Sachi: “He was the butterfly wings on the sidewalk, delicate and broken, unable to do anything but surrender to the mercy of whoever came upon him.”
Molly: "I chose FangTongue as my language on my Day of Phoenix Song, and as I’m not a phoenix myself, I don’t have the gift of tongues, so I would be unable to report any coming danger. I only know two Elvish words- I’m hungry. Quite useful words they are, too. I can demand meat before dinner if I say it loud enough- it annoys Nyra, due to my accent (goaded by an amount of gagging) which makes it sound vaguely like I’m trying to regurgitate a rhinoceros."
Samar: “Rileys tears continue but they get slowly drowned out by the sound of a car.”
Yejin: “What? What do you mean that we are moving?” I shouted. My mom flinched. “Now, I’ll explain-” “I WANT ANSWERS. NOW.” My little brother, Willy, squirmed in his seat. We drove up to the garage. My heart was pounding, my blood boiling. My dad’s smile diminished into a frown as he saw tears trickling down my cheeks. He looked at mom then sighed. “Jin, look. It’s because of my job.” But I didn’t care. How could they do this? “They have a better opportunity there.” I ignored him and stomped upstairs and flung myself onto my bed. I cried like a water fountain. No… I couldn’t be moving. This was impossible. I couldn’t leave my friends. My school. My house. My neighborhood. I couldn’t, I couldn’t, I couldn’t…
March 28, 2023
Molly: She grasped the necklace like a rope dragging her out of a sinkhole. A lifeline. A pastline. Its jade beads were green drops of life that once were but would never be.
Andrew: “It was a sensational feeling to be out of the grasp of the tireless conditions that the prisoners had to endure.”
Samar: ”Their hair is pitch black and an evil sort of grin stretches from ear to ear permanently accompanied by a horrendous underbite and bright neon braces that pair unevenly on pale yellow teeth.
Yejin: “Might as well name her Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! The name will get annoying.”
April 4, 2023
Molly: But, as Cress had to call the terrible fiery serpent something, he abbreviated it to T.F.S, as it wasn’t quite so melodramatic.
Optimism. One of the keys to life in the House of the Serpent. You saw an opportunity, you took it, you made the best of it. Being positive helps when you survive off of scraps of elephant meat.
Cress also had to remain a secret. When nabbing a piece of hippopotamus jerky, the T.F.S’ favorite, he would surely get caught if he didn’t remain anonymouse.
Andrew: "Mom, is that you?" Tom gaped in surprise. He couldn't believe it, his mom had been dead for 5 years after a tragic car crash, and her death haunted Tom's dreams. As soon as Tom reached out to hug her, the seemingly magical figure dissolved, and Tom broke into tears as he sank down to his knees, wishing for his mom to not have been dead.
Yejin: A faint agitated howl drifted towards us. “Oak is getting angry. We should probably soak the moss now.” We nodded, dipping the moss and quickly scurrying back to our den sight. “Took you guys long enough!” Oak grumbled. “And it smells like fish!” He said as he licked the moss I carried.
“And clover,” Clover added as he came to her piece. He grunted in agreement. “Too sweet,” he added but accepted it anyway. Clover ran to the small garden beside the den and got a bit of clover, despite Oak’s
despite Oak’s protests. “This one smells too mossy!” He growled at Fern’s moss.
Fern gave me a sideways glance, saying, Well, no, duh!
Clover trotted back, chewing her clover. “Well, was my moss good today?”
Oak sighed. “Yes, Clover. Now go get more prey!” he added, gesturing to the nearly empty kill pile. It looked as if the hunters had gone further than usual, and were taking their time. Technically, the “Kill pile” was just a tiny ditch with soft bark woven on top so scavengers
Technically, the “Kill pile” was just a tiny ditch with soft bark woven on top so scavengers can’t get to it. And Oak was definitely not satisfied with the trout Fern gave. Still, he smiled as Clover jumped up, quickly scaling the den so she could get an eagle’s-eye view, and a wolf-nose’s scent.
April 11, 2023
Samar: “The thoughts in my head scream at me. The sounds grow louder, yet they all are my own voice blaming me for being insensitive and not realizing what was going on the whole time, never paying attention enough. I feel unsafe and uncontrolled. My negativity looms like thunder waiting to strike on a cold rainy day."
Molly: "The phoenix dove with a fiery screech of anger to attack Mira, but Corvo was there first. With a swish of his tail, a long, heavy chain swung around and caught the phoenix on the tail. Corvo opened his mouth wide and closed his eyes, going into a sort of half-consciousness, and his yellowish fangs started spewing out venom at the chain, except it was ash-gray and gaseous and smelled of sadness rather than hate."
Yejin: “Sometimes Clover was… interesting, as she was now.
“I WANT FOOD!” Clover roared back, dragging at twice the speed. Though she generally had the nature of a bear eating honey, it could easily turn into a bear who lost its honey.
Andrew: “Lara found a big imposing box sitting in the middle of the doorstep before she entered the office building to report for work, although everyone seemed to disregard it.”
April 18 2023
Yejin: “What the-How-” He stumbled backwards. Aqua, as always, was ready. With her dolphins, she sent Hawk tumbling into the river. “I will get you! I’m not finished with you yet!” he shouted. “I’m not- AHHHHHHHHH!” He screamed like a banshee as he fell down the waterfall.
Andrew: Her friends had tried to convince her the view was amazing, the colorful orange pinkish sunset that was to die for, with palm trees and coconuts to sip from on the beach.
Samar: At least I can say, I laughed in the face of death.
Molly: Firefly grabbed the star part on instinct with both front paws, though she toppled over, though she hit the ground with her injured ankle, she didn’t care- purple mist streamed out of the star part that seemed to clear the air around her- she opened her eyes, blood rushing through her ears, heart thudding in her chest. Firefly squinted through the green smoke, searching for the green light of the Talon.
Sachi: The child wandered further down the hallway, scraping her pointy nails against the wall. Her footsteps were swallowed by the floor, and each step became a thump. THUMP. THUMP. THUMP. The dust swirled around her as she walked and the sounds of the outside world slowly receded to a quiet purr.
April 25 2023
Andrew: Air was too toxic to breath, but air being toxic enough to cause severe purple green rashes and burns was on a next level.
Felix: A huge necropolis, sunken into the ground, sprawls with twisting pathways, buildings made of bone, and lampposts made of the spines of some long-dead leviathan.
Yejin: I stared up at the door. It was deadly black with snakes carved onto the handles, and the door knocker had a snake head. Its ruby blood-red eyes didn’t help.
“We are DEFINITELY not going in there.”
“What, you scared?” Charles smirked.
I gulped. “N-no.” I touched the door. It was cold. Like a dead body. I looked back and saw Charles nodding. With a deep breath, I grabbed the door knocker and tapped it onto the door. Thud. Thud. Thud. No answer. “Maybe we should go.” I said. “Nobody's in there.
Samar: “Did you..not kill me.” I realize the severity of that sentence at the worst moment; I feel my sarcasm interfered too much.
Molly: Dwarves were also most certainly not the stumpy little creatures of legends. They started out at the size of any normal elf, about seven feet tall, and then around their hundred-fiftieth birthday they slowly started shrinking until they were about two feet tall. It was incredibly ungainly to leap over rocks in caves that were under construction with legs six inches long, but such was the price of longevity.
Sachi: “Listen,” he voiced, inquiring about the disorganized monologue of the book. It spoke to him in whispers, soft and gentle like the trickle of a breath in his ear. It was the essence of summer, trapped in a whisper. This was a story only he could interpret. He was special. Abruptly the man sat up, a sharp dissonance to his motions. Knowing what needed to be done, he began writing. “It was a beautiful summer day when it all started. The wind was warm and gentle, and the day was sunny and bright…”
May 2, 2023
Molly: There were a few weak, straggling stalks of grass and weeds who, sadly, had the illusion that they would be able to grow in the stone while their flourishing counterparts not even ten feet away were long and green.
Samar: We had been told but we hadn't believed the cruel lies they spill to eager children willing to believe the first thing their told. Taken away for a divine purpose, what divine purpose must I have? I lived a normal life of music and joy my “uniqueness” felt nothing compared to the normal I wish I was.
Yejin: An elephantine beetle skittered out. “YAAARGH!” Clover screamed, fur standing on end as if electrocuted (though if anyone was scared, it was the beetle) and scrambled away into the river. The beetle stood up on his hind legs and twitched his antennae in victory. Clover screeched a second time when she spotted a dead beetle floating to her, and jumped on me, clinging to like a squirrel to her favorite nut. She usually wasn’t like this- it was just her fear of anything with more than four legs, especially if it was bigger than her paws. Maybe she read too much fantasy- I didn’t know.
Sachi: What I noticed first was the brightness. A stark, blinding white painted on every wall, shelf, and pillar. My eyes squinted from the blaze and the florescent lights teased me with their scintillating gaze, hanging hundreds of feet above my head.
Felix: The squint got squintier.
May 9, 2023
Molly: The polar bears didn’t need an excuse, as they were surrounded by random humans bearing kitchenware.
Samar: The irony is clear. I don't want to, but I know I have to. I feel such regret in my heart, a pang of bearing guilt and pain loom over my head like a dark storm cloud creeping in on a sunny California day in April or May. My brain fills to the brim with pleas of nos and in that sea of nos creeps out a message. The one I wish i could ignore. “You should rest”.
Yejin: Deep in the Indian jungles, the tigers resided. They did not bother the villagers, and they wanted nothing to do with humans. Rather, they just wanted to live as normal tigers usually lived, except their idea of normal was… not according to humans.
Felix: I became familiar with the most intricate mechanisms in the clock, and I grew to love the delicate inner workings.
May 16, 2023
Yejin: They called him crazy. Out of his mind. A silly man. Every time they saw him they shunned him. When having dinner with his younger brother he would be asked to go get a few forks from the fancy silverware cabinet, but when he tried the door to get back into the kitchen, he found it locked. When going to his cousin’s house, he would find no answer even to the doorbell. Even his own father called it a shame upon the family’s line of photographers.
Andrew: It would be like going through a car crash, flying out of the car, and flipping around 200 times.
Molly: The figure set down the flask, having drained it, and stepped down from the comfortable chair, whose sleek stature contrasted its plush seat and backrest. The chair (which could as well be called a couch), though smaller than average, was much taller than the figure- unsurprisingly, as the extremely old dwarf was only a foot tall. This was accounted for, however, by the ominous black velvet cloak, and the boots and belt encrusted with polished onyx.
Felix: I grabbed a few canteens, a pair of clothes, and my favorite pair of pliers.
May 23, 2023
Andrew: Technology couldn’t just disappear in a fraction of a second and plummet the world back into the Ice Age, as if some magical creature with complete and undivided control over humans had decided to finally punish humans. Scores of, if not 98% of humans had died in the first couple of being sent back to the Ice Age, unable to find shelter or clothing in time, being unable to find a “doctor” for medical assistance, killed each other in rivalries, or simply had a lack of food available to them.
Molly: The teacher gives them a look more quizzical than a fox who just bit a plastic rabbit.
Yejin: He could capture the magical creatures. But why tame them? Why go through the work of building a fake relationship when he could simply make them fear him, make them obedient to his every word?
May 30, 2023
Molly: Owls only panic when the time is truly ripe to panic.
Felix: My only food was the occasional scraggly cactus, and I was beginning to get dizzy from the lack of nutrition and constant heat
Andrew: It was underwhelming to Jonah, who expected that such an advanced civilization would have something more flashy. Maybe a diamond encrusted, gold lined 20 square feet hatch would do the job, but it was a rusty mud splattered hatch.
Samar: "I could feel myself start to cry like the little kid who begged not to do the dare. Nothing can fix this, can it?"
Sachi: a whisper -- smothers the growth of any healthy self conviction / an ostentation presentation, an exotic docile companion...
