This Program of Studies describes the courses offered at Coventry High School for 2018-2019. While every attempt is made to offer all courses contained herein, certain courses may not be included in the master schedule and others may be combined depending on enrollment and staff availability. Every student is encouraged to take a challenging program of study. Studies show that the more rigorous the program of study in high school, the more successful the student is in college and in life.

USING THE PROGRAM OF STUDIES
The following pages contain the descriptions of the courses offered at Coventry High School and the Regional Career and Technical Center. Under each core departmental overview there is a chart which describes the potential courses students may be able to take at each grade level. This sequence of courses allows the student a visual representation of the courses he/she can take in ensuing years and is a major component in the student’s Individual Learning Plan. Please note – as was indicated above – students have the ability to enroll in a number of possible courses based on ability, previous work, effort, motivation and other factors. Required courses are listed first followed by elective offerings in each department.
Following this sequence of courses chart, each class title is listed in the order of its course code number. The term code, the appropriate grade and the number of credits the course awards with regard to required credits is also listed. If the course is an Honors or AP® class, that will also be noted in the title of the course. If the course meets the fine or performing art requirement, it will be listed as F/P Art. If it meets the technology requirement or math related requirement, then this will also be noted within the course description. Some classes also have a pre-requisite; that is, before the student can take the course, specific requirements must be successfully completed. Additionally, there are recommended prerequisites for some courses.
