CREDIT REQUIREMENTS & PROMOTION POLICY
A student’s achievement of knowledge, skills, and concepts, as well as developmental and academic readiness, need to be demonstrated in order to be promoted to the next grade. Students who do not meet the minimum number of credits needed for promotion may be able to make up the deficiency in summer school, at CCRI, with a tutor, Edgenuity, or may be retained in that grade.
A class that meets for an entire year earns one credit; semester classes earn ½ credit.

Please be aware that lack of attendance may adversely affect a student’s grade in a course. Students and parents are urged to consult the Coventry High School attendance policy in the Student Handbook.
REPORT CARDS and INTERIM PROGRESS REPORTS
Student report cards are published on the Aspen Family and Student portals approximately ten days after the close of the quarter. Students receive both a quarter grade and the current cumulative grade (in the first quarter, the quarter grade is the cumulative grade.) In addition, the grade the student earned on both the mid-year exam and the final exam are included. The report card also contains teacher comments relating to the student’s academic progress, work attitude, effort or conduct. Parents are asked to view the report card published to the Aspen portal.
To keep students and parents better informed, interim progress reports are published shortly after the mid-point of every quarter. Teachers have the opportunity to provide two or three comments addressing the student’s current progress in the class. Teachers MUST record comments for any student in danger of failing a course. Parents are also asked to view the progress reports published to the Aspen portal.
