ACP courses offer possible dual credit through Indiana University’s Advanced College Project. Students wishing to take these courses for dual credit will need to meet the 2.7 GPA prerequisite. Typically a successfully completed high school ACP course will earn 3 IU credit hours.
Dual Credit with Ivy Tech – 1 semester course. Students will take the Knowledge Assessment English test or be a junior or senior with a 2.6 GPA or higher and apply for admission to Ivy Tech Community College. College credits are awarded to the student FREE of charge for earning a final grade of “C” or better based on the Ivy Tech grading scale. Dual Credits earned – 3 credits per semester.

Prerequisite: Senior status or Junior status and completed Speech with at least a C
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Prepares students in the liberal arts to communicate effectively with public audiences. Emphasizes oral communication as practiced in public contexts: how to advance reasoned claims in public; how to adapt public oral presentations to particular audiences; how to listen to, interpret, and evaluate public discourse; and how to formulate a clear response.

2 SEMESTERS 2 CREDITS
Grades 12
Prerequisites: Ivy English 111 credit or AP Language and Composition test score of 3 or higher
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Development of basic strategies for critically reading and interpreting poetry, fiction, and drama; introduction to the premises and motives of literary analysis and critical methods associated with various literary concerns through class discussion and focused writing assignments.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course focuses on the development of research methods and listening, speaking, and argumentation skills. Students will deliver a variety of oral presentations including informative speeches, persuasive speeches, and oral debates. In addition, students will complete a comprehensive research project related to communication studies that demonstrates knowledge of the learned skills in class.
