First day of school Aug 11 ----- B day roster report on Tues/Thurs. A day roster on Wed/Fri for Aug 11-14.
Mr. Vet is a small-town guy, growing up on Celina, TX. He attended Celina from 3rd grade onward, graduating in 1990. In May 1995, he graduated from UT-Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in History, with a minor in English. He then had to answer the question "What do you do with a history degree?" The answer was "Go get certified to teach", so it was on to TWU in Denton for 2 more years.
His first teaching job was at Celina High School, where after 2 years in the classroom he was pulled into the technology side of things. After 6 years doing that, he moved to the corporate world and spent the next 12 years doing tech support, helpdesk, and project management work. When the opportunity arose in September 2019 to get back in the classroom, he thought about for about 3 seconds and made the jump.
Now Mr. Vet teaches World Geography at Commerce High School. He has also taught US history, world history, psychology, and sociology in the past.
World Geography is the study of people and places, and all the ways they are connected. We will learn about the nitty gritty stuff like maps and climates and landforms, but we will also try to learn as much as we can about fuzzier things like culture and human behavior, particularly about how the physical world influences those things.
The goal is to not only learn about this world we live in, but to also instill a desire to someday go out and visit it.
