Mr. Doyle grew up in a suburb of east Houston, where he spent most of his time reading authors like J.R.R. Tolkien and F. Scott Fitzgerald. After graduating from Channelview High School, he moved to the deep East Texas area and settled in a town called Nacogdoches, where he studied English and Linguistics at Stephen F. Austin State University. After graduating from SFA, he taught English at Nacogdoches High School for two years. He is proud to begin his third year as a teacher as a Tiger at Commerce High School.
Mr. Doyle is passionate about reading and writing and hopes to help young minds find joy in these activities as well. In addition to writing fiction in his downtime, Mr. Doyle likes practicing his acoustic guitar and playing Dungeons and Dragons.
Mr. Doyle will be teaching English II and Creative Writing.
English II
This course will build on the foundational language skills that students have acquired throughout their education. We will focus on promoting literacy among all students and will strive to prepare the students for college and their chosen career paths. To achieve this, we will read, analyze, and compose literary texts, nonfiction texts, and persuasive texts.
Creative Writing
This course will build on the foundational language skills that students have acquired throughout their education and will apply these skills to their personal writing. Through collaboration with the teacher and with peers. Emphasis will be placed on setting personal goals and striving toward improvement in writing form and clarity.
