"DOC" HERRON

Mrs. Herron is starting her 7th year at Commerce HS as the Athletic Trainer and Kinesiology/Sports Medicine CTE teacher. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from South Dakota State University in 2006 and a Master of Science in Athletic Training from Arizona School of Health Science in 2008. Prior to coming to Commerce, Mrs. Herron was the Head Athletic Trainer and Adjunct Professor in Kinesiology at Austin College in Sherman, TX.

Amanda teaches Kinesiology 1, Sports Medicine 2 and Sports Medicine 3. As well as provides medical coverage for all athletics at both the High School and Middle School. She also supervises and educates a group of athletic training students.

Kinesiology 1 9-10th : Introduction into kinesiology and the fundamentals of motion in the human body. Will learn biomechanics, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical professions.

Sports Medicine 2 11th : In depth look at athletic related injuries and illnesses, how to prevent, tape, treat and assess those injuries.

Sports Medicine 3 12th: Fully hands on course, with real life experience. Students are at each practice and get to put what they have learned in the previous 2 courses into use.
