First day of school Aug 11 ----- B day roster report on Tues/Thurs. A day roster on Wed/Fri for Aug 11-14.
Hello, I'm Ms. Gentile! I am new to CHS and very excited to be joining the tiger family. I teach English III and Literacy Foundations. This year our yearly focus is "character, not circumstance," and with that in mind, my classroom will be a place for growth and building confidence in our reading and writing skills. I graduated from Texas A&M University- Commerce with a degree in English. I was involved in many student organizations on campus and love the Commerce community. I have a passion for literature and I cannot wait to share that with my students. I am looking forward to a great year, go tigers!

This course is designed for juniors. Students will read multiple genres of literature written by American authors and write about their analysis and connection to the texts. There is no AP option for English 3. Possible book studies include A Raisin in the Sun, Of Mice and Men, and The Great Gatsby.
Literacy Foundations course description:
This course is for greater reading comprehension and building vocabulary. It is designed without traditional literature, but rather includes texts such as news articles and online sources from Scholastic Scope to engage students in other types of reading. This developmental course is geared to better prepare students for STAAR mastery.
