Dustee Daugherty is the Agriculture Department head at CHS. Ms. Daugherty received a Bachelor’s of Science in Agricultural Sciences and Technology from TAMU-C in 2007 and a Master’s of Science in Agricultural Sciences from TAMU-C in 2016. She taught Ag for five years at Como-Pickton High School and is currently starting her 7th year at Commerce. She has one son, Canyon, who is beginning his Senior year at Wolfe City High School. She spends most of her time involved in her son’s FFA activities and showing as well as accompanying FFA members on the many competitions, shows, and activities that the chapter is involved in.
Ms. Daugherty teaches Principles in Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources, Horticulture, Greenhouse Operation and Production, Floral Design, Food Processing, Small Animal Management, Equine Science, Livestock Production, and Veterinary Medical Applications. Not all of these classes are taught in a year but they are rotated each year.
The Commerce FFA program is very active and is open to students ages nine and up. As an FFA advisor, Ms. Daugherty oversees all animal projects, greenhouse production, and livestock barn. She also works closely with chapter officers to plan the program of activities for the chapter each school year.
