Student-Athletes
Remember, you aren't just an athlete- you are a SCHOLAR-athlete. Make sure you have a full schedule that prepares you for college. Apply that determination and work-ethic you learn in your sport to your studies.
Maintain your eligibility!
To maintain high school athletic eligibility in CCS, you must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA for EVERY grade card in at least FIVE full credit classes EVERY quarter BEFORE and DURING your sport season. So, take a full load of classes and shoot for at least B's in every class in every quarter. You don't want to come up short!
College Credit Plus course CAN be used as part of your five credits to play sports.
Early release or late arrival during your senior year usually means you will not have enough credits to qualify for school sports!
Please see your school counselor, coach and/or Athletic Director with questions about high school courses, grades and athletic eligibility.
All your academic core (English, math, science, social studies, world languages) grades count, beginning in 9th grade!
Have dreams of competing at the DI or DII levels in college? Better maintain a 2.3 in your academic core courses (that doesn't include P.E. or art...), or you will be sitting on the bench.
ACT/SAT test scores are still optional when for NCAA eligibility, but still try hard on these tests- and focus on those academic core grades starting freshman year!
Take/retake your classes IN PERSON, not online (APEX/online courses cannot be used for NCAA eligibility!).
Make sure to work hard in your sport and in your academics if you want to be a college athlete. More on collegiate athletics HERE.
