We use the following modal verbs when we want to give advice or make suggestions. Both mean “debería/s”
•Should + infinitive is the most common expression and it is used to talk about advice or suggestions based on your opinion.
👉 You should study harder if you want to pass the exam (deberías…)
👉 To win the competition they should train harder (deberían…)
👉 I shouldn’t be listening to what she is saying, but she may be right
•Ought to + infinitive is more formal and it is used to talk about a general sense of advice
👉 You ought to finish the report for tomorrow
👉 She ought to come to my office when she finishes on the phone
👉 You ought not to talk to your father like this (oughtn’t)
