Playlist “The Hate U Give”
9th grade (Middle-School)
Drawing inspiration from the powerful themes of social justice, racial discrimination, and identity presented in the film “The Hate U Give”, based on the novel of same name by the author Angie Thomas, and the short story Oreo, of the collection Black Enough, edited by Ibi Zoboi, our 9th grade students were tasked with creating a thematic playlist that encapsulated the emotional essence and critical topics explored within these stories.
The playlist became a powerful medium for the students to express their understanding of these key themes. It featured a diverse range of musical genres and artists, carefully chosen to reflect the central concepts such as racial inequality, activism, resilience, and the pursuit of justice. By connecting specific songs to pivotal moments and thematic elements, the students demonstrated a nuanced understanding of the societal issues and emotions addressed in “The Hate U Give” and “Oreo” Through this creative endeavor, the students crafted a compilation that highlights the lasting impact of artistic expression and personal interpretation.
Playlist “The Hate U Give”
9º ano (EF II)
