A key pillar of Code2040’s work is activating people in our community passionate about the movement for equity and inclusion in tech. Over the past 5 years, that community has grown to 6,000 people, including program participants, alumni, partners, and allies.
Our flagship community convening is the annual Code2040 Summit, a two-day conference that brings together individuals from across the country to connect, learn, and empower. It is known as an opportunity to hear Code2040 and partners’ latest thinking on the most urgent issues we’re addressing. The conference is also a forum to build connections with individuals and companies leading this movement. The Code2040 Summit aims to build awareness on the state of racial equity in tech, to empower attendees with the knowledge and resources needed to drive solutions and to help our community amplify its voice in advocating for change.
The Code2040 Summit is comprised of workshops and talks, an opening reception, and our signature party, Kick It, following the end of the Summit.
The Code2040 Summit convenes people already established in our community (including fellows, alumni, entrepreneurs, partners, donors, etc.) as well as new attendees from the larger tech community. In 2018, approximately 74% of the attendees at the Code2040 Summit identified as Black or Latinx and nearly a quarter of them were engineers. Sponsoring the Code2040 Summit offers great opportunities for branding and recruitment with our community members.
