Unit 1


Visual Recording and Communication (external unit)


Develop your visual recording and communication skills through exploration and experimentation with materials and methods, gaining confidence in your ability to create work and express and communicate ideas to create a final outcome with a written exam at the end.


Unit 2


Critical and Contextual Studies in Art and Design (external unit)


Investigate practitioners through experimentation with materials, techniques and processes to create varied outcomes and communicate ideas to create a portfolio of work with a final outcome with a written exam at the end.


Unit 3


The Creative Process (mandatory internal unit)


Developing ideas and gaining an awareness through varied themes linked to the ‘The Creative process’. Students will acquire the skills needed to make independent creative enquiries, leading to accomplished refined outcomes


Unit 12


Fine Art Materials, Techniques and Processes (optional unit)


Explore the breadth of materials, techniques and processes used to create fine art. You will investigate their characteristics and properties, and experiment with the technical processes to develop an understanding of how fine artists communicate ideas. You will then develop some of your own ideas and outcomes using the techniques you have learned, and review the development of your skills in this area.
