At Cleeve Meadow School we aim to provide a real focus on the benefits of building positive working relationships among our students and this is why we are delivering the WJEC Award in Working as Part of a Team. This is a very vocationally relevant course which will allow us to model a lot of workplace scenarios which are likely to occur for our students once they have finished school. This course will help our students to develop experience and resilience in teamwork.
We want our students to:
Work as part of a team in planning, participating in and reviewing the success of an event.
Investigate different aspects of planning events before planning their own event. The event will be a small-scale, one-off event that requires planning and organisation over a period of time, and learners will need to meet specific customer or client requirements
Initially we will be working on tasks to get students to get a real handle on how to plan their time effectively, this level of personal organisation is of particular value to our students at Cleeve Meadow.
The subject specific unit we will be working on is regarding Planning and Participating in an event and will entail the students making all the necessary practical and logistical steps to deliver an Afternoon Tea to parents in the Summer Term.
To encourage and develop a culture of teamwork amongst the students and across the whole school community.
To ensure verbal feedback to students is relevant and understandable, to encourage the concept of the ‘paperless’ subject for ease of use and environmental reasons.
To have opportunities to make and give effective presentations to the whole school in assembly time.
To find opportunities to work remotely with other schools with similar cohorts
To arrange visits from professionals to talk about how they use teamwork in their working lives
