We see and receive new information on the internet every day. Without me noticing, I was indulged in the waves of whatever it is trending. It was a while until I figured that I have not fully understood the contents I was sharing, reposting, etc, and how dangerous it may be.
People are busy guilting each other while masking themselves as "woke". That is why by this project, I mean to start by raising awareness of things we tend to subconsciously done nowadays that instead brought us a step backward from being a productive and responsible community. I might consider myself "succeeding" when people take their time to see and comprehend what I put out there. Very well, it will be amazing if it sparks and opens discussions. Because that is literally the whole point of my project, a food for thought that will hopefully be a self reflection.
Pak Adrian was originally a guest speaker at our Social Studies program, the things he shared clicked to the topics I am bringing up for my project. From there, I am sure that the interview will enrich the discussion and enabling us to see the topic from a historian's perspective, which he did. I also have an episode with a psychologist where we gave a friendly introduction to "Herd behavior" that is fundamental to the chaotic wondrous world of the internet we know today.
Both speakers definitely solidify and answered my pedestal questions. However, I am pretty sure that I and the guest speakers are on the same page, but they did give a deeper insight into what we are discussing.
Continue to read thoroughly and understand the topics I am interested in before having a say. Furthermore, of course, have conversations with people with various backgrounds to continuously learn and enhance my knowledge and encourage the community around me to do so as well. I feel like I would be able to reach out to more people if it was not taking place during the pandemic.
Process of identifying and getting in touch with my users. Since this project originally formed by my own anger and annoyance at the things I see online, I identify my users as people maybe around my age that has actively been using the internet as well. You could easily tell the groups that are formed in the digital atmosphere with their own set of beliefs. But observing these acts online is not enough. Especially where I am not in a qualified position and eloquent enough to speak just based on my own experience and research. That is why I decided to contact some experts to get a closer look and view specifically from the people who have studied professionally in their field. But it doesn't stop there. I first try to recognize and trace the core issues and branches of my concern.
It started with my own curiosity and questions :
Not that it is wrong, but "why do we started reposting infographics and movements that are going around and talks about issues such as racism, etc now where no one really cared if people talk about it a few years back?"
"Why are we so sensitive to even the littlest or even a harmless thing?" - I might be wrong so "What am I missing out?"
"Why are we so easily influenced to whatever it is that is displayed?"
"Do our online outrage actually done anything?
After looking more into the endless questions have in my head, I reframe my concerns to these questions :
"How might we encourage people to think more critically?"
"How might we divide and recognize which case should we talk about and not?"
"How might we encourage ourselves to be more responsible for the information we put out?"
"How might we convince people to reflect?'".
These concerns truly reflect and are relevant to what is happening on the internet and even outside globally now. Just like what I have mentioned before, Social media has become or seven always been a place for activism. There has been a wave of being sensitive to and somehow an awakening of social issues. We could see so many accounts and threads "fighting" for social justice. My used - to - be peaceful scroll on Instagram and TikTok has become a place for race, gender, religion wars and so many more. It had been impossible to avoid it since our timeline and feed is inundated with so much information. It is good now that we are aware of the things that are happening all over. But from what I see, there is more unnecessary hate that is spread around than actually doing something productive to solve a certain issue. And this mess becomes a cycle. You might think that we are actually doing something right now, but no. I myself used to be one of them. I felt like I need to repost videos of a certain group getting harassed or posters about racism which is good enough to express my sympathy for those who are under fire which I am sure a lot of people can relate to, but lack actions compared to what we are preaching online. It led to the point where people just repost simply to not look like they are ignorant while still doing wicked actions in real life and mock people for not doing so. With the power of the internet and its rapid influence, it is easy for people to spread misinformation. What sad is that some even use these issues for industrial gain. Unfortunately, there is so much more to it. So, do we actually care about these cases, or it simply just a way to satisfy oneself?
That is why, we aim to start by raising awareness and call out things we tend to subconsciously done nowadays that instead, brought us a step backward from being a productive, progressive, and responsible community even with a small platform . Such as talking about; cancel culture, virtue signalling, "How to be a mindful user both in digital world and real life", etc.
There is so much more to it that is not enough to tackle in a just few periods of time I have left. There fore, expect to see more content from Forthewokes even when CP is done :D

Choosing a video and online media as a platform to spread my message is the most suitable place considering how my topic is basically talking about unfortunate events on the internet.
Spreading awareness and calling out actions online that ended up adding more mess and let them know other ways to "support" coherently.
I share my products with my closest friends and family first, and hopefully continue to consistently maintain and grow the Instagram account. Moreover, I will encourage my viewers to share their thoughts about the topic posted. My viewers also can interact with me through the Instagram account and leave comments on my video posted on Youtube.
